Shivam Dube reveals why he chose a train over flight after India’s T20 World Cup win

New Delhi: India’s T20 World Cup hero Shivam Dube has revealed the reason for the train travel over Team flight after the T20 World Cup culmination. After India beat New Zealand in the finale of the T20 spectacle in Ahmedabad, Dube, along with his wife and a friend, took a 3-tier AC train back home to Mumbai instead of the Team flight.

The reason citied behind this was that flight tickets were not available for three people which prompted him to travel by train and reach his home city. Dube travelled under disguise wearing a mask, cap and full sleeves shirt. The Indian all-rounder also boarded the train late and purposely took the upper berth after choosing an early morning departure.

Dube divulges reason

The Indian cricket star revealed at an event that he was anxious to meet his son and father after India’s triumph so he decided to catch a train. For catching a flight to Mumbai with the rest of the team members, he needed to wait as all the flights were booked on the particular route.

‘Ghar jaake mujhe apne bachche aur apne papa se milne ki kaafi anxiety ho rahi thi. isliye main subah-subah ghar chala aaya. Wait, hi nahi ho raha tha (I was feeling anxious to meet my child and my father at home… that is why I left early in the morning. I just could not wait),’ Dube said.

He also said after learning that no immediate flights were available on the route, he was willing to travel by road also but he opted for the train as it offered a faster journey. Dube would be next seen at the Indian Premier League post March 28. The tall all-rounder represents five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
