Shiva puja at home: The month of Shravan, which we know by the name of Sawan, is considered to be the most sacred month of worship of Lord Shiva. Before starting the puja, take water in your hand and take a pledge of worship by saying your wish. Install a picture of Shivling or Shiva family by laying clean clothes at a wooden post. Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” or “Mahamrityunjaya Mantra” at least 108 times every day in Sawan. This gives freedom from mental peace and negative energy. First offer water on the Shivling. Then take a bath in turn with milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water or pure water.
Offer pure water every time after bathing. Offer white clothes to the Shivling. Apply tilak of rope and Bhasma. Offer Akshat and flowers. Offer especially the flowers of Dhatura and Aak. Belpatra is very dear to Shiva. Belpatra with three leaves is considered good. These are also offered to Shiva.
Burn incense and light a lamp. Offer fruits and sweets. Om Namah Shivaya chant the mantra at least 108 times. You can also recite Shiva Chalisa or Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. Perform Shiva Aarti with camphor or ghee lamp in the last. Apologize for any error in worship and ask for blessings while repeating your wish.
