Shilpa Shinde On TV Industry Pressures: ‘Actors Must Respect Producers’

When Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai first premiered in 2015, it didn’t take long for Shilpa Shinde, who played Angoori Bhabhi, to become a household name.

However, she exited the show abruptly in March 2016, less than a year after it began, alleging mental harassment, a toxic work environment, and even sexual harassment by the show’s producer.

Now, almost a decade later, Shilpa returns to Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0, marking a major moment for the show. The actress has now opened up about the harsh realities of the television industry and reflected on common perceptions surrounding TV actors and producers.

Shilpa Shinde Speaks About The Harsh Reality Of Television Industry

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shilpa opened up about her acting journey. She shared, “Hume apni jagah banani padti hai aur uske liye mehnat karni padti hai. Agar aap ne hard work kiya hai toh aap ko milega, ye mera hard work hai.”

Speaking about the harsh reality she faced from her personal experience of the industry, she shared, “Joh maine face kiya hai, woh mujhe pata hai aur wo change nahi bhi hoga kabhi, hume apni jagah banani padti hai aur uske liye mehnat karni padti hai, aur agar aap ne hardwork kiya hai toh aap ko milega, ye mera hard work hai.”

She added, “Aaj kal main dekhti hu artists bhi bohot pareshan karte hai, pehle jab newcomers hote hai toh sab cheeze accept kar lete hai aur jaise thode se popular ho jate hai wo apne rang dikhane lagte hai toh woh wrong hai (These days, I also see that artists create a lot of problems. Earlier, when they are newcomers, they accept everything, but once they become a little popular, they start showing their true colours and that is wrong).”

Shilpa Shinde Urges Actors To Respect The Producers

Shilpa Shinde urged actors and artists to respect the producers of their shows, consider their perspectives, and then discuss requirements accordingly.

She said, “There is a channel above the producer, so there’s a different kind of pressure on the producer. And then the producer puts pressure on the artists. After that, if an artist fails, managing everything becomes very difficult.”

She explained, “For example, even if there are just four of us, if we have to wait for one person, everyone has to wait. If even one person throws a tantrum, the entire team gets affected and the whole show can get ruined. One should also think from the producer’s point of view, that when someone acts wrongly, it ends up affecting everyone, and people start looking at everyone in the same way.”

Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0

The show revolves around two neighbouring couples, the Mishras and the Tiwaris. The storyline follows the husbands, who are attracted to each other’s wives and resort to various humorous yet ultimately unsuccessful tactics to impress them. The show is now gearing up to launch its sequel, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0, with Shilpa Shinde returning as the original Angoori Bhabhi.

On the professional front, Shilpa Shinde also won Bigg Boss Season 11 in 2017.
