Shilpa Shinde has been making headlines due to her controversial statements on social media and interviews. In a recent interview, the Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actress called herself ‘orthodox’ and commented on modern women’s choices and outfits. Shilpa said that she doesn’t like women who drink or smoke. Moreover, she also prefers seeing them in a sari and not any other outfits. Shilpa’s statement must have left many women in shock, as some of them might find it problematic. It has to be noted that Shilpa had been in the news for claiming that she levelled false sexual harassment allegations against producer Sanjay Kohli back a few years ago.
What Did Shilpa Shinde Say About Modern Women?
In an interview with IANS, shared her views on feminity and described herself as being ‘a little orthodox’. She confessed that she feels uncomfortable seeing women smoking or drinking. She doesn’t like them getting engaged in certain lifestyle choices.
The Bigg Boss 11 winner said, “Actually, I am a little orthodox. Very frankly, I don’t like seeing women smoke.” Shilpa also clarified that her views are personal and she is not passing judgements about others. The actress further stated that the and personal choices should not be confused with one another.

Shilpa said, “Boldness is different. Just because someone smokes, drinks or wears certain clothes doesn’t make them bold.” While elaborating more about modern women’s choices, Shilpa mentioned that she prefers seeing them in sarees. She feels that a woman should know herself, her values and who she is. Shilpa clarified that the clothes don’t define one’s mindset and people’s mindset does not depend on the clothes they wear. Shilpa Shinde is very much clear about thoughts on certain things about women from today’s generation.
