New Delhi: Shilpa Shetty has finally responded to speculation surrounding the closure of her Bandra restaurant, Bastian. The eatery, which had become a landmark dining spot in Mumbai and a go-to destination for celebrities, was rumoured to have shut down permanently.
However, the Hungama 2 actor has clarified that the brand is not going anywhere but is instead expanding with new ventures.
Bastian gets a new address in Mumbai
In a video shared with her followers, Shilpa firmly stated, “No, I am not shutting down Bastian, I promise.” She added that while the Bandra outlet would no longer operate in its current form, the space will soon welcome a new South Indian restaurant named Ammakai. The cuisine, she revealed, will be inspired by her Mangalorean roots.

More about the Bastian restaurant
At the same time, Bastian itself is being relocated. The beloved restaurant will reopen in Juhu under the name Bastian Beach Club, which promises to continue its reputation for high-end dining while offering a refreshed experience. “I have received numerous calls, and while I can definitely feel the love for Bastian, please don’t turn this love into something toxic. I have literally come here to say that Bastian is going nowhere,” Shilpa said in her clarification.
The actor described Ammakai as a deeply personal project, one that pays homage to her cultural background and passion for food. “Something new and brilliant again. Going back to my roots with a place called Ammakai, pure South Indian Mangalorean cuisine in our Bandra Bastian, and Bastian Beach Club in Juhu. I can’t wait for all of you to try something new and experience the flavours of Bastian hospitality,” she explained.
Shilpa also praised her brother and business partner, Ranjeet Bindra, for spearheading the transformation of their hospitality brand. In her words, “Full credit to my brother, partner and CEO of our enterprise, Ranjeet Bindra, for having this vision of transforming the hospitality business with his expertise and passion at this scale. God speed.”
Shilpa Shetty fraud case
The announcement comes at a time when Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, are facing a Rs 60-crore fraud allegation from businessman Deepak Kothari, who has accused the couple of misusing funds meant for business expansion years ago. Despite the legal storm, Shilpa’s statement signals confidence in her restaurant chain’s future, reassuring loyal patrons that Bastian is here to stay.
