How educated Shibu Soren was?
Shibu Soren studied up to matriculation i.e. 10th. He studied at Gola High School in Hazaribagh district. During his era, education opportunities were very limited, especially in tribal society, but despite this, he started a change in society with himself. Despite low studies, his political understanding, the ability to connect with people and the method of leadership were so effective that he became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times and many times in the central government.
How did Shibu Soren’s social struggle begin?
When Shibu Soren was 13 years old, his father Sobran Manjhi was killed on 27 November 1957. He was a hunter and raised his voice against the exploitation of Mahajans. The father’s murder shook Shibu Soren. The mind was removed from studies and they started on the path of movement. In Hazaribagh, he started uniting tribals against Mahajani exploitation by joining forward block leader Lal Kedarnath Sinha.

Who gave Dishom Guru name to Shibu Soren?
Shibu Soren is considered not just a politician but an emotional identity in Jharkhand. He fought for decades for the rights, land and identity of the tribals. He was one of the few leaders who led Jharkhand a separate state from Bihar. In the 1960s, he started the Dhankatani movement, which was against the forced part of the tribals by the Mahajans. Shibu Soren roamed from village-to-village motorcycle, awakened people for their rights and organized tribal consciousness. After which the Santhal community gave him the title of ‘Dishom Guru’.
