New Delhi: Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, has said that he wants to part ways with his wife, Aparna Yadav. In a strongly worded post shared on social media, Prateek alleged that his wife has ruined family relationships and described her as selfish and obsessed with fame and influence.
Prateek is Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son from his second wife, Sadhana Gupta. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is his stepbrother. While most members of his family are politically active, Prateek has largely stayed away from politics and is involved in real estate, fitness ventures, and animal welfare initiatives.
Shocking claims on social media
Prateek shared a photograph of himself with Aparna on Instagram along with a hard-hitting note, making serious allegations against her. In the post, he wrote: “I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants is to become famous and influential. I am currently in a very bad mental condition, and she does not even bother, as the only person she cares about is herself. I have never seen such a bad soul, and I was unfortunate to get married to her.”
However, Aparna’s brother, Aman Bisht, rejected the allegations, claiming that Prateek’s social media account had been hacked.
Cracks in the marriage?
Prateek and Aparna tied the knot in 2018 and have a daughter from the marriage. Aparna, who was initially associated with the Samajwadi Party, contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantonment constituency on the party’s ticket but lost to BJP leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi. In 2022, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing “nationalism” as the reason. She currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission.
Prateek Yadav’s wealth is largely linked to his real estate and fitness businesses. In the 2015–16 financial year, he declared an income of ₹1.47 crore, while Aparna reported an income of Rs 50 lakh. His assets include a luxury Lamborghini car, purchased through a Rs 4.5 crore loan, and his net worth is primarily attributed to his entrepreneurial ventures.
