Sheeba Chaddha calls Salman Khan “temperamental.” She backs her claim by recalling her time on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) where Salman and Aishwarya Rai played the main leads: Sameer and Nandini, and Sheeba played the latter’s sister Anupama who elopes with her lover after getting physically abused by her husband.
While her supporting track gave an emotional turn to the movie’s plot, Sheeba remembers how the mood was a tad different while filming.
When Salman Khan stormed out of HDDCS set
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sheeba opened up about a time when Salman stormed out of the set leaving her startled. “I don’t remember the details, but Salman tripped or something on a track that was laid. He got so angry that he stormed out of the set. Unhone darwaza aise phenka (he slammed the door hard). Infact if I’m not wrong, there was an old lightman behind the door who got slightly hurt. I was like, baap re, aisa hota hai kya with stars (I wondered if that’s how it was working with stars)?”
“I remember another scene just before I elope in the movie. It was with Salman and Aishwarya where he had to hug me to console. But he refused to hug. The shoot was halted and I think Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) had to have a chat with Salman. I’m sure he had his own reasons for that,” Sheeba added.
Working with Salman Khan
The versatile actress explained if she was able to perform freely infront of Salman after such episodes on set. “Once camera is on, that thing won’t be there in my mind. I work with utmost sincerity and honesty. That time, I won’t think how my co-actor would react,” she said.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was the first and last film that Salman and Aishwarya worked in. It was also one of the initial onscreen projects of Sheeba Chaddha. Meanwhile, Sheeba was recently seen in comedy-drama web series Bakaiti. Her upcoming project is Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana, in which she portrays Manthara.
