Sharada Canal Dading overcome floods, Yogi government’s initiative completed a project of 180 crores for 22 crores. Uttar Pradesh Flood Management Sharada Canal Desilting Yogi Adityanath Lucknow

The flow of the Sharda Canal was controlled by the day of the Yogi government’s daytime. Flood threat was averted in 12 districts, 2.5 lakh people and 10 thousand hectares of land left. The Rs 180 crore project was completed for only 22 crores and the farmers got a big relief.

Lucknow. In many districts of the state, there is a flood situation due to continuous heavy rains. The Yogi government is doing relief and rescue work on a war footing in these areas. At the same time, due to the visionary thinking and administrative skills of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the effect of floods did not appear in many districts this time. Flood crisis in districts like Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Pilibhit and Barabanki was almost negligible. The reason for this is that on the instructions of CM Yogi, the deseging of rivers (cleaning and depth work) was done. Due to this, the rivers returned to their original flow and the water started flowing in the right direction. A day of daylight in Sharda Canal is a great example of this. Earlier, where there was flood in many districts from this canal, this time its effect was not seen. Millions of people and thousands of hectares of agricultural land were safe. Apart from this, the government also got revenue of crores of rupees from daytime.

Current status- 4 lakh cusecs of water in Sharda

The Sharda Canal passes through about 12 districts. A large amount of water is released from Nepal during the monsoon, which makes the canal flow very fast. At this time, about 4 lakh cusecs of water is flowing in the canal. Earlier this water used to do heavy damage in 12 districts. CM Yogi took this problem seriously. He resolved the issue of dam construction pending in the Sharda Canal area of Lakhimpur Kheri in a few minutes. The CM showed that with the right willpower and understanding, the projects of crores can be completed at less cost and on time. His move became an example of administrative efficiency and his sensitivity to the interests of farmers. The project of 180 crores was completed in just 22 crores and millions of farmers were relieved.

Every year there was a big loss

Every year, about 2.5 lakh people and more than 10 thousand hectares of land were affected due to increasing water of Sharda Canal in Palia area of Lakhimpur Kheri. 16 villages directly and one and a half million people were indirectly affected by floods. The authorities had proposed to construct a mud dam to solve the problem, which needed 180 crore and 200 farmers’ land.

CM Yogi Adityanath chose permanent solution- Daysing

The Chief Minister said that the soil dam cannot give a long solution. Also, farmers were not ready to give their land. He then suggested that the canal should be deducted in length seven and a half kilometers in length. This will deepen the canal and water will flow in one direction and get it further in Saryu. In this way, villages and farms will be safe from floods. Officials said that only 22 crore rupees will be spent on daylight. CM immediately approved and started work.

Today, the deseging work is almost complete and the water of the canal is flowing controlly. This has brought relief to 16 villages and thousands of farmers. Neither his land nor crop was lost. Now this canal is flowing in its old form, which will also improve irrigation facility.

People’s happiness and thanks

District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri Durga Shakti Nagpal said that the villagers are very happy with this initiative. He thanked the Chief Minister because for the first time there has been such a big solution without snatching the land and without any additional burden. This initiative is not only a technical solution, but also a motivational example towards rural development and public welfare.

Earlier adopted this method

In 2017, the Elgin Bridge area of Saryu River also flooded every year. At that time contracts worth Rs 115 crore were given, but the problem was not solved. CM Yogi also deducted there. Work was done for just Rs 5 crore and a permanent solution was found.
