Shakib Al Hasan created a massive world record while putting up a match-winning performance for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Shakib took three wickets while giving away just 11 runs in two overs. Later, made a knock of 25 in just 18 balls as the Falcons chased down a total of 137 with two balls to spare. The Bangladesh cricket legend was awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) in his team’s seven-wicket victory.
Shakib Al Hasan Creates History
Through the course of his three-wicket haul, Shakib completed 500 wickets in T20 cricket. He is only the fifth bowler in history to achieve the feat after Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Imran Tahir. Shakib is the first left-arm spinner to reach the milestone as he extended his massive lead over Imad Wasim (376).
The Bangladesh cricket legend is the first player in the world to complete the rare double of 500+ wickets and 7000+ runs in the shortest format of the game. Dwayne Bravo retired close to mark, while Andre Russell is not far away from joining Shakib in the elite list.
