The World Championship of Legends was to be played between India and Pakistan on 20 July 2025. In view of the Pahalgam attack in April, many Indian players decided to boycott the match on the day of the match.
The management finally had to bow down to the Indian players and the match was canceled. One of the main reasons for the cancellation of the match was former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who recently poisoned India, which is part of the Pakistan World Champion team in this league.
Shahid Afridi has now given his reaction on the cancellation of India Verses Pakistan match. He revealed that many players of the Indian team were disappointed at the cancellation of this match, they took this decision only because of a team player.
According to Geosuper.TV, during the media conference, he said that the Indian cricketers are also disappointed with not playing the match and he blamed Shikhar Dhawan for his withdrawal from the match, who had publicly announced. Afridi called Dhawan a ‘rotten egg’ and accused him of ‘spoiling’ the rest of the Indian cricketers.
Shahid Afridi said, “Sports bring close to countries. If politics comes in between everything, how will you move forward? Without dialogue, things cannot be solved. Such events are aimed at meeting each other. But you know, there is always a rotten egg, which spoils everything.”
Afridi, while working to pour ghee in the fire, said that Dhawan is a cause of embarrassment for his country. He further said that if the Indian team did not want to play cricket in WCL 2025, they should have stayed at home.
Afridi said, “He had trained a day before the match. I think he withdrew the name from the match because of just one player. The Indian team is also very disappointed. They came here. I am telling you, you should become a good ambassador for the country, not of embarrassment.”
