Kanpur Sex Racket Case: After the arrest of Rohit Verma, who claimed to be a journalist in Kanpur, a big sex racket has been exposed. Police investigation has revealed a network of 19 hotels. In the investigation which started after the complaint of a Kolkata woman, many white collars and police connections are also being investigated.
A big case of sex racket in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh has shaken the police and administration. After the arrest of Rohit Verma, who claims to be a journalist, the scope of investigation is now increasing rapidly. In the initial investigation of the police, this matter is not limited to just one person, but appears to be related to a big network. It is alleged that girls were called from outside in the name of getting jobs and then they were exploited.
Case opened due to complaint of Kolkata woman
This whole matter started with the complaint of a woman from Kolkata. The woman alleged that she was called on the pretext of job and was misbehaved with her. After receiving the complaint, the police took action and arrested Rohit Verma, who claimed to be a journalist, and sent him to jail. After this, when the police started investigating the matter in depth, many shocking facts started coming to light.

Got connection of 19 hotels through mobile
According to the police, after his arrest on April 3, Rohit Verma’s mobile phone was searched. During investigation, a list of 19 major hotels of the city was found from the mobile. It is alleged that women invited from outside were accommodated in these hotels and the entire network of prostitution was run from there. Considering the seriousness of the case, a special investigation team has been formed on the instructions of Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal. This team includes two IPS officers and several ACPs, who are raiding different hotels in the city and collecting records and documents.
Police department’s connections are also under investigation
During investigation it has also come to light that Rohit Verma had close relations with some people in the police department. It is alleged that because of these contacts he was successful in running his illegal network for a long time. After allegations of involvement in the case surfaced, Daroganitin Yadav has been put on the line with immediate effect. The police is now trying to find out who else were involved in this network and who gave protection to the accused.
Old videos went viral on social media
After Rohit Verma went to jail, many of his old videos are becoming increasingly viral on social media. In these videos he is seen openly domineering.
In one video, he is seen misbehaving with a young man, while in the other video, he is seen driving a car wearing a police cap. Giving information on this matter, SM Qasim Abidi said that these viral videos are being investigated. If the videos are found to be genuine, additional sections will also be imposed against the accused.
Scope of investigation increased
According to police officials, at present the entire matter is being investigated from multiple angles. Hotel records, mobile data and other digital evidence are being scrutinized. Police say that if the role of more people comes to light in the investigation, then strict action will be taken against them also.
