World Physiotherapy Day 2025: World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated every year on 8 September. The purpose of this day is to make people aware of health. Physiotherapy gives relief in many health problems. No medicine has to be taken in it. Only physical exercise provides relief to painful places in the body. That is why doctors often recommend taking physiotherapy to keep the body healthy.

World Physiotherapy Day, celebrated on 8 September every year, is celebrated to remind that movement is the medicine. Physiotherapy is not only a means of healing after injury or surgery, but it is a way to prevent problems, strengthen the body and stay healthy and independent at all age.

This year’s theme rehabilitation and healthy aging

To learn more about physiotherapy, we interacted with Dr. Indramani Upadhyay, HOD of the MPT (Ortho) Department of The Center for Ni & Hip Care, Ghaziabad. He told that the subject of this year is rehabilitation and healthy aging (rehabilitation and healthy aged). But physiotherapy is beneficial not only for the elderly but also for students, professionals, players, women and housewives.

Why is physiotherapy important?

Office Workers – Sitting on the desk for hours increases back and neck pain, which can be prevented from the right posture and exercise.

Players and fitness lovers- Help in injuries prevention, muscles conditioning and fast recovery.

Elderly– Help in improving the balance, reducing the danger of fall and keeping the joints flexible.

Women’s health– Pregnancy, recovery after delivery and beneficial in strengthening the pelvic floor.

Follow these easy tips at home

  • Adopt a 20-20-20 minute rule. Look at 20 feet away every 20 minutes and let the eyes relax for 20 seconds. With this, straighten the back and rotate the shoulders in the left-right position.
  • Sitting for a long time at the same place causes tightness in the neck and shoulder. For this, do the neck and shoulder stretching. Slowly tilt the neck towards one shoulder and stop by 10 seconds. Similarly, tilt the neck on both sides.
  • The strength of the core is very important. Lie on your back, fold the knees, how to apply the abdominal muscles and the back with the floor. Stop tax 5 seconds. This position strengthens the core.
  • With aging, physiotherapy becomes very important. Elders should also do physiotherapy. Balance exercise has been reported for this. Holding the chair and lift one leg up from the ground and stop for 10 seconds. By doing this, the balance of the body is fine.
  • Deep breathing is also very important in physiotherapy. It has to take a deep breath. Take a deep breath, come out of the stomach and exhale slowly. Stress will be reduced and lungs will be strong.
