Sensex, Nifty rebound in early trade; check the gainers and laggards

Kolkata: Both Sensex and Nifty opened in the green as top IT stock appeared to be recovering in early trade to power the recovery. Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, TCS, Infosys, Wipro etc were the top gainers on NSE as trade began today, Feb 25, 2026. At 9:30 am, Sensex 30 was trading at 82,756 up 064% while Nifty 50 was trading at 25,579, up 0.61%. On Tuesday, there was a veritable bloodbath in the market when Sensex 30 dived 1,068.74 points (1.28%) to settle at 82,225.92 at the end of session while Nifty 50 went down by 288.35 points (1.11%) to 25,424.65.

Top gainers on NSE

Within the first 10 minutes the list of top gainers on SNE threw up the following names — TECHM, HCLTECH, TCS, INFY, WIPRO, JIOFIN, NTPC, HINDALCO, POWERGRIDINDIGO, ADANIPORT, ICICIBANK and ITC. It is clear that the I stock which took a beating over the past few days were leading the rebound.

US markets yesterday

A day after a remarkable decline, US markets recovered on Tuesday (Feb 24) with each of the major indices posting significant gains. S&P 500 rose 0.77% to 6,890.07, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.04% to finish at 22,863.68. The other major index Dow Jones Industrial Average too climbed 370.44 points, or 0.76%, to end the session at 49,174.50.

Asian indices this morning

Reflecting the recovery in the US markets, there was cheer in the Asian markets too this morning. Reports showed MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan (MIAPJ0000PUS) was up 1% higher in early trading session. The crucial Nikkei 225 of Japan went up 1.1% to reach a record high of at 57,956.92 in early trade. The broader index Topix (TOPX) inched up 0.07%. Korea’s KOSPI surged nearly 1.7% and went above 6,000 for the first time. The index has moved up an astonishing 44% so far in 2026.
