Sensex, Nifty open in the green, GIFT Nifty positive; check early gainers on NSE

Kolkata: Sensex 30 and Nifty 50 opened in the green on Monday, September 29. At 9:20 Sensex stood at 80,522.39, up 95.93 points or 0.12%. On the other hand, Nifty 30 was trading at 24,712.55 points, up 57.85 points or 0.23%. This follows a bearish trend throughout last week when investors were pulled down by a host of negative cues from US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on pharmaceuticals, the persistent 50% tariffs on imports from India and H-1B visa fee hikes.

According to NSE data, the early gainers on this exchange were BRNL, VASCONEO, BANARBEADS, SAMMAANCAP, BILVYAPAR, DOLLAR, SUNTECK, VINEETLAB, GANDHITUBE, DNAMEDIA.

Asian markets, Gift Nifty today

The crucial GFT Nifty was 73.50 points or 0.30% up around 9 am this morning. Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 0.68%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures stood at 26,290, above the previous HSI close of 26,128.2. Asian markets were displaying a mixed trend on Monday. The Reserve Bank of Australia has begun its two-day meeting to decide policy rates.

On the other hand, US stocks closed higher on Friday with the investor enthused by the inflation data which was in line with expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.65%, S&P 500 gained 0.59% and Nasdaq Composite moved up 0.44%. But on a weekly count, Dow declined 0.2%, S&P 500 dipped 0.3% and Nasdaq lost 0.7%.

Markets last week: bears on the prowl

While bearish trends persisted throughout the week, the following factors dominated the entire trading sessions — Trump’s fresh tariffs on pharma, sharp hike in H-1B visa fees, continuous FPI dilution of Indian equities. Last week, the BSE benchmark declined 2,199.77 points or 2.66% with TCS taking the biggest hti in tyerms of market valuation erosion.
