Lucknow. Giving priority to employment generation in Uttar Pradesh and giving a strong base to the semiconductor ecosystem is now becoming an important part of the industrial policy of the state. In this direction, the joint OSAT unit of HCL and Foxconn, which is going to be established in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area, is being considered a major achievement.
Yamuna Expressway is becoming a new employment hub
With the expansion of semiconductor ecosystem, Yamuna Expressway region is fast emerging as a new high-tech employment hub of Uttar Pradesh. This initiative will not only give impetus to industrial development but will also provide new strength to the economy of the state.
Over 3,500 direct jobs from HCL-Foxconn OSAT unit
According to HCL Group Chairperson Roshni Malhotra, the joint OSAT unit of HCL and Foxconn will give a new direction to employment generation in Uttar Pradesh. The project is likely to generate more than 3,500 direct employment opportunities. These will include roles related to engineering, technicians, production specialists, quality control management. This initiative will create a strong base for high-tech based employment in the state.
Indirect employment and MSME will get a boost
The impact of this project will not be limited to the factory premises only. Along with the semiconductor unit, many supporting industries related to packaging, logistics, raw material supply, equipment maintenance, service sector will develop. This is expected to create thousands of indirect jobs. Besides, the local MSME sector will also get new opportunities, which will further strengthen the regional economy.
Special emphasis on skill development
Keeping in view the needs of the semiconductor industry, the state government is paying special attention to skill development. Under the OSAT project, a plan is being made to train youth in advanced technologies. Special training programs will be started with the cooperation of industry and educational institutions, so that the youth of the state can be prepared for the technical needs of the future.
Youth will get global level opportunities
These training programs will strengthen the employability of the youth in the long run. They will also get a chance to connect with global level technical opportunities in the country and abroad. Unit near Jewar Airport to accelerate regional development
This OSAT unit, which is going to be established near Jewar Airport in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area, is also very important from the point of view of regional development. Due to better connectivity and modern industrial infrastructure, this area is rapidly developing as a high-tech industrial cluster.

The increasing flow of investment will not only increase employment opportunities, but Uttar Pradesh will also move towards playing an important role in the semiconductor based economy. This project has the potential to include the state among the major technology hubs of the country.
