Scooty owner was shocked after seeing the challan of Rs 20 lakh! The police gave a surprising explanation

In Muzaffarnagar, a challan of Rs 20 lakh 74 thousand was issued for a scooter, which created a stir. After the matter went viral on social media, the police admitted the mistake and reduced the challan to Rs 4,000. SP Traffic termed it a clerical error.

A case has come to light from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh which has put the police department in the dock. Actually, here the police issued a challan of Rs 20 lakh 74 thousand for a scooter. Scooty owner Anmol Singhal was shocked to see the amount of the challan. As soon as this challan went viral on social media, there was a stir in the entire district. People started jokingly saying that now driving a two-wheeler has become more expensive than luxury.

Helmet, license and papers were missing – police seized the scooter.

This incident happened on November 4, when the police was checking vehicles at Gandhi Colony post in New Mandi Kotwali area. Meanwhile, scooter rider Anmol Singhal was caught without a helmet. According to the police, he neither had a driving license nor the necessary documents for the vehicle. On this basis, he was challaned and the scooter was seized. But everyone was stunned to see the amount of the challan. ₹ 20,74,000 was written in the challan.

Challan of Rs 20 lakh made due to ‘clerical mistake’ – police gave clarification

As soon as the matter went viral on social media, the police also issued a clarification. SP Traffic Atul Choubey said that this entire matter is the result of a clerical error. He said, “During the vehicle checking by the Sub Inspector of New Mandi police station area, section 207 of the MV Act was to be imposed, but by mistake this number was also added to the fine amount. Due to this, an amount of ₹ 20,74,000 started appearing on the challan.” Correcting the mistake, the police has increased the challan amount to Rs 4,000.

Discussion among people, questions raised on police functioning

This matter has become a big topic of discussion on social media. Many people have raised questions as to how such a big mistake can happen when the challan system is digital. SP Traffic said that orders have been given to investigate the matter and if any negligence is found, legal action will be taken.

At present, this matter has become a cause of great embarrassment for the Muzaffarnagar Police and this “challan of Rs 20 lakh” has now become a hot topic of discussion among the common people.
