New Delhi: Amid the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi and heavy downpour, several states and union territories across the country are closed today, August 27. As a precautionary measure due to immense rainfall and flood-like situations the schools have taken the decision to remain shut for the day and as well as for the upcoming days if required.
In Jammu and Kashmir schools will not be operational today, while Punjab schools will remain shut till August 30 for heavy rainfall.
Jammu and Kashmir school holiday
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) announced the closure of schools and postponed the Class 10, 11 exams due to the unpredictable weather conditions. The Directorate of School Education made the announcement of the school holiday in all government and private schools in Jammu. Meanwhile, the Annual (Private) and Bi-Annual 2025 exams for Class 10 and Class 11 Part 1, which were scheduled for August 27, has now been postponed.
Punjab school holiday
As heavy rainfall led to a flood-like situation, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced the closure of schools in the state. All primary, secondary, and senior secondary government and private schools have been shut. The Pathankot district also announced school closure as the river water levels rose.
Uttarakhand school holiday
Several districts in Uttarakhand also announced school holiday. The Chamoli district administration ordered school holiday due to the occurrence of heavy rainfall.
Ganesh Chaturthi school holiday
In several districts in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, schools are closed today due to the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Moreover, Kerala schools will remain shut because of Onam celebration. Andhra Pradesh schools will remain closed today to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi.
