In Jammu & Kashmir, all educational institutions were closed on 18 August due to intense rainfall and flood risks. The IMD has warned of severe weather conditions including thundershowers, flash floods, and possible cloudbursts between 17-19 August. Districts such as Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and parts of Kashmir are under high alert. Authorities may extend the holiday into 19 August if conditions worsen.

In Kodagu district, Karnataka, the administration has announced a school and college holiday on 19 August due to heavy rain warnings. The order covers both government and private educational institutions to safeguard students during adverse weather.

Kerala Declares Holiday in Thrissur District

In Kerala, Thrissur district declared a holiday for all educational institutions on 18 August after continuous heavy rainfall disrupted normal life. With IMD warnings continuing, there is a possibility that schools and colleges may remain closed on 19 August as well. Parents and students are advised to monitor official district announcements.

Manipur Holiday for Maharaja Veer Vikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur Jayanti

Unlike weather-related closures in other states, Manipur will observe a holiday on 19 August 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Veer Vikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. Banks and government offices will remain closed, while schools and colleges are expected to function normally unless district authorities declare otherwise.
