Scary Movie 6 Star Anna Faris Felt ‘Wrong’ To Be Included In Friends Group Hug After Finale – Here’s Why

Anna Faris is returning to the comedy franchise Scary Movie 6 as Cindy Campbell. During her career, Faris has been a part of several comedy projects, from House Bunny to the award-winning CBS series Mom . The actress also landed a recurring role as Erica in the tenth and final season of Friends in 2004. In a new interview, she shared why she felt it was inappropriate for her to join David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry for a group hug on set.

The late actor Perry was the one who had recommended her for the role after watching Faris in a film.

Why Anna Faris felt like she didn’t belong in the Friends group hug in final season

In conversation with Variety, Anna Faris shared that after rehearsals for the show on the Friends set, she would be the only one standing “about two feet away from their group hug.” Meanwhile, the six cast members would keep telling her to join them for the sentimental group hugs, which she felt were inappropriate.

Faris was a part of four episodes in the tenth season of Friends in 2004. She played a pregnant woman named Erica who gives her twins to the characters of Chandler (Perry) and Monica (Cox) to adopt after they can’t have children on their own. The actress said that she felt very special to be included and it was a big deal to shoot the series in front of a live audience who really knew what it meant to witness the end of the incredible comedy series.

The Mom star had revealed in a 2024 interview with People that Perry had seen her in Lost in Translation and suggested her name to the makers. Working with the late Perry, who died in October 2023, and Cox was a memorable experience for her, as she remembered them as being “kind” and “unbelievable.” Initially, she had thought the whole experience would be very intimidating, being on the final season of Friends, but it ended up being an honour.
