Jahnvi Soni has revealed that a close friend’s childhood experience helped her better understand Saanvi, the character she plays in the upcoming television show Sayonee. Although the actress has not personally experienced the circumstances faced by her character, she said watching her friend grow up without her mother gave her an emotional reference point while preparing for the role.
A friend’s story helped Jahnvi understand Saanvi
Jahnvi explained that one of her closest friends was raised without her mother and developed a particularly close relationship with her maasi, who became her maternal figure. Having seen that relationship from close quarters, the actress said she often wondered about the moments her friend experienced while growing up without her mother.
She reflected on ordinary milestones such as attending school, appearing for examinations and going through important moments in life. For Jahnvi, those observations helped her think about the emotional gap that can remain when a mother is absent and how another person can gradually fill an important place in a child’s life.
Saanvi’s search for family shapes the story
In Sayonee, Jahnvi portrays Saanvi, a young girl who has spent her childhood in an orphanage without the presence of a mother. The character’s story revolves around her emotional need for affection, belonging and a family connection.
Jahnvi said she believes children who grow up in orphanages can sometimes form strong emotional attachments with people who provide them with care and security. Those relationships can become a source of comfort and, in some cases, take on the role of family.
The actress said this understanding became an important part of her preparation for Saanvi. Rather than drawing only from her imagination, she used what she had observed through her friend’s journey to approach the character’s emotions with greater sensitivity.
Dreamiyata Entertainment produces the new show
Sayonee is being produced by Sargun Mehta’s Dreamiyata Entertainment. The series also marks Rashami Desai’s return to television, adding another familiar name from the television industry to the cast.
A recently released promo has introduced Gautam Singh Vig alongside Jahnvi Soni and offered viewers an initial glimpse of the relationships surrounding Saanvi. These connections are expected to play an important role as the character’s story unfolds.
Sayonee set to premiere on September 23
Sayonee features Rashami Desai, Jahnvi Soni and Gautam Singh Vig in key roles. The show is scheduled to premiere on September 23 on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
For Jahnvi, the role represents an opportunity to portray a character dealing with an emotional search for maternal affection and belonging. Her earlier work includes television projects such as Dahej Daasi and Dev Sang Paro, along with an appearance in the film Afwaah.
With its focus on Saanvi’s upbringing and her search for an emotional family bond, the upcoming series is set to explore relationships and personal connections through the central character’s journey.
