Sawan 2025: The holy month of Sawan has started from today. Which is no less than a celebration for Shiva devotees. Why is the spring special?
The month of Sawan has been called the beloved month of Lord Shiva. Religious belief is that when Halahal poison came out during the churning of the ocean, then Lord Shiva had protected this world by wearing it in his throat. Every Monday of Sawan, Monday fast has special significance. Lord Shiva’s in -laws arrival: According to another belief, Lord Shiva comes to his in -laws in Sawan month and resides on earth. During this time, they live among their devotees, due to which the fruit of their worship increases manifold.
Goddess Parvati’s tenacity: It is believed that Goddess Parvati did harsh penance in the month of Sawan to get Lord Shiva as her husband and she got success. Therefore, virgin girls observe a fast on Monday to wish for a good groom.

How to celebrate the festival of Sawan?

Kavad Yatra celebration : In the month of Sawan, the Kavad Yatra is also organized with great pomp in different parts of North India. The Kanwariyas take water from the holy rivers from far and wide and reach Shivdham on foot and perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva with that water. This journey is considered a symbol of difficult tenacity and devotion.
Rudrabhishek: It is considered auspicious to do Rudrabhishek in this month. Rudrabhishek is a powerful ritual to please Lord Shiva and get his grace.
Shiva Chalisa and Mantra Chanting: Devotees regularly recite Shiva Chalisa in Sawan and chant mantras like “Om Namah Shivaya”.
