Saurabh Shukla joined theater for girlfriends
Saurabh Shukla’s family from Gorakhpur shifted to Delhi, when he was 2 years old. He enrolled in Khalsa College for schooling and then graduation from here. While studying, he used to pass by the theater. In an old interview, he told that beautiful girls were always seen outside the theater. Seeing this, he thought that he can become a girlfriend here too. In this greed, he joined theater in 1984. He was interested in acting from the beginning, so he created a world of theater and started learning the nuances of acting. In 1986, he played special roles in plays like A View from the Bridge (Arthur Miller), Look Back in Anger (John Osborn), Ghasiram Kotwal (Vijay Tendulkar) and Hayavadan and gradually became famous. In 1991, he joined the professional wing of the NSD Reportery Company. However, being busy with work, girlfriends could not become. He was later married to director Shukla Barnali Ray.

After naming the theater, Saurabh Shukla was working in NSD. He used to get 4000 rupees salary. Meanwhile, he met Shekhar Kapoor during a play. He offered him the film Bandit Queen.
