New Delhi: Indian badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty started off their BWF World Tour Finals 2025 campaign on a high with a sensational victory against their Chinese opponents. Up against Olympic silver medallist Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, the Indian pair notched up 12-21, 22-20,21-14 victory in the opening men’s doubles group B match of the event.
Satwik and Chirag looked a bit weak in their strategies in the opening game of the contest as they went down 12-21 with very less hope of bouncing back in the remaining games. But the second game, which happened to be tightly contested, the Indian duo marked a terrific fightback to notch up a 22-20 victory making the match level.
With the first game going in favour of the Chinese pair and the second in India’s, the decisive third game was set to be another thriller but it ended up being one-sided as Satwik and Chirag knocked out the Chinese playing a dominant game from the beginning to win 21-14 in Hangzhou.
