Actress Saroja Devi suddenly fell ill this morning while she was resting after performing her usual puja. She was immediately taken to the hospital, where she passed away. ‘Every morning, she would read the newspaper as soon as she woke up. Then she would take a bath and perform puja. Only after that would she have breakfast. Today too, she would perform puja as usual and watch television. Then she suddenly fell ill and fainted. We immediately took her to the hospital. But the doctors said that she was already dead,’ said her manager Vijayakumar.
Saroja Devi is very fond of her mother. Due to this, it has been reported that her last rites will be performed at the place where her mother was buried. Born in Bangalore, Saroja Devi’s father’s name is Bhairappa. He is a police officer. Her mother’s name is Rudramma. It was her father who encouraged Saroja Devi to learn dance. While she was at the peak of her career in cinema, she married engineer Sri Harsha on march 1, 1967. They have two children, Indira and gautham Ramachandran. Saroja Devi had said that she suffered from severe depression after her husband died of a heart attack in 1986.
