Saran police busts exam fraud and narcotics racket, eight arrested in separate raids

New Delhi: Saran police have cracked down on two separate criminal operations arresting eight people in connection with an ITI exam cheating scam and a large-scale narcotics racket. Officials said the first case involved a solver gang that promised candidates success in online ITI exams in exchange for money. Bhagwan Bazaar police received the tip-off on July 31 and a team led by the Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer raided the Institute of Management and Technology.

Four members of the gang were arrested with mobile phones, pens, cash, ATM cards, an Aadhaar card and a PAN card. WhatsApp chats on the seized phones revealed conversations about boosting marks and arranging unfair means for examinees. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further raids are being conducted to arrest other associates.

In another operation under the “Nasha Mukt Saran” campaign police busted a narcotics racket in Revilganj. Acting on a tip-off they raided the home and shop of Ramesh alias Chandra Giri in Gautam Mathia village where 129 kilograms of cannabis were found along with gold and diamond-like ornaments weighing 199.3 grams, 643 grams of silver jewelry, cash amounting to Rs 89,520 and land documents worth about Rs 10 lakh.

Two men were arrested on the spot and their statements led to the capture of two more accused from West Champaran. Police have started the process to seize the gang’s illegally acquired property under BNS and will recover any pending taxes through the proper channels. The Superintendent of Police announced that the officers involved in the successful raids will be rewarded for their efforts.
