Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor Satish Shah dies at 74

Veteran actor Satish Shah died on October 25 at around 2:30 pm at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital.

The 74-year-old actor, popular for his roles in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, and ‘Main Hoon Na’, had been battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant.

His manager confirmed the news to India Today adding that the body remains at the hospital, with the funeral scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Satish Shah became a household name through his memorable roles in both films and television. He gained cult status for his performance in the 1983 satire ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, where he portrayed multiple characters with unmatched finesse.

His filmography also includes popular hits like ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Om Shanti Om’, showcasing his versatility across genres.

On television, Shah’s portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ remains one of the most iconic comic roles in Indian TV history. He also featured in the beloved 1984 sitcom ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, which became a defining show of its era.
