Sara Arjun, one of the breakout stars of the blockbuster franchise Dhurandhar, is reportedly in line to portray legendary Madhubala in an upcoming biographical film.
The project will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Jasmeet K Reen, known for Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings. As per a latest report, the film is currently in its pre-production stage and is expected to begin shooting later this year. It aims to recreate the golden era of Hindi cinema and offer a grand cinematic tribute to Madhubala.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, will be playing Madhubala in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali backed and Jasmeet K Reen directed movie. Sources close to the production reveal that she will undergo an extensive physical transformation to bring Madhubala’s grace and persona to the screen, from look tests and costume detailing to dialect training. The film is being envisioned as an emotionally intense drama.
Jasmeet K Reen is planning the film as an intense drama that will explore both the success and emotional struggles of Madhubala’s life, creating a deeply moving tribute to the iconic actress whose story continues to fascinate generations.
Madhubala, often called the Venus of Indian Cinema, appeared in over 70 films during a two-decade-long career in the 1950s and 1960s, and remains one of the most beloved figures in the history of Bollywood. Her personal life, her relationship with Dilip Kumar, and her untimely passing at the age of 36 have long made her story ripe for a biographical retelling of this scale.
Sara Arjun Made Smashing Hindi Film Debut With Dhurandhar
Sara Arjun’s journey to this point is nothing short of remarkable. She started appearing in television commercials at just 18 months old and had featured in over 100 advertisements by the time she was five, making her one of India’s most recognisable child performers.
Her film debut came at the age of six with the Tamil drama Deiva Thirumagal, where she played the young daughter of a mentally challenged father portrayed by Vikram. Her performance in that film won her considerable critical praise.
For Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar chose Sara after an extensive casting process that saw over 1300 female artists being considered for the role. She starred as Yalina Jamali alongside Ranveer Singh in the spy thriller, which went on to become a historic box office success.
