Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has made headlines once again, this time in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025. The wicketkeeper-batsman has become the most expensive player in the history of the tournament after being picked up by Kochi Blue Tigers for Rs 26.80 lakh during the players’ auction.
Bidding started at a base price of Rs 5 lakh, and multiple teams entered the race to sign him. Thrissur Titans went up to Rs 20 lakh, confident they would land the star player. However, Kochi Blue Tigers outbid them by spending more than half of their total Rs 50 lakh purse to secure Samson. After the deal, Kochi was left with Rs 23.2 lakh to complete their squad.
Sanju Samson was the league ambassador during the first edition of the Kerala Cricket League but did not participate as he was committed to national duties. For the 2025 season, however, he made himself available for selection, which led to a heated bidding war. His presence is expected to significantly boost Kochi’s chances in the upcoming season.
The second season of the Kerala Cricket League will take place from 21 August to 6 September 2025. Alongside Sanju, another notable buy was Vishnu Vinod, who was signed by Aries Colm Sellers for Rs 12.80 lakh.
