Sangeeta Bijlani Opens Up About Robbery At Her Pune Home: Feel Very Unsafe As Woman Living Alone

Veteran actress and former Miss India, Sangeeta Bijlani, has opened up about the burglary at her Pune residence earlier this year, expressing ongoing fear and unease in the aftermath.

Speaking at an award ceremony in Pune on Saturday, Bijlani revealed that she personally met with Pune Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill to urge a quicker resolution to the case.

As per a report in IANS, Sangeeta spoke to the media about the robbery at her house in Pavana and,”I came to Pune specifically to meet SP Sandeep Singh Gill and request him to speed up the investigation. I feel very unsafe as a woman in my own home, a place I’ve lived in for the past 20 years,” she said.

According to police reports, the burglary occurred at Bijlani’s bungalow in the Pawandharan area of Pune’s Tikona Peth. The intruders reportedly entered from the rear side and stole ₹50,000 in cash along with a television set worth ₹7,000, totaling a loss of ₹57,000.

The case was registered at the Lonavala Rural Police Station. The complaint was filed by a private employee working for Bijlani. The bungalow had been unoccupied for four months, and the theft was discovered on July 18, 2025, when Bijlani visited the property around 9:30 AM. The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspects are still at large.

Sangeeta Bijlani began her modeling career at just 16 and gained national recognition after winning the Miss India Universe title in 1980. She represented India at the Miss Universe pageant in Seoul, South Korea, where she won the Best National Costume award-an ensemble designed by her mother, Poonam Bijlani.

She made her Bollywood debut in 1988 with Qatil, opposite Aditya Pancholi, and went on to star in successful films such as Tridev,Hathyar, Jurm, Yodha, Yugandhar, Izzat, and Lakshman Rekha. Throughout her career, she worked with prominent filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt, Mukul Anand, J.P. Dutta, Rahul Rawail, and N. Chandra.

Her last film appearance was in the 1996 action thriller Nirbhay, directed by Vinod Dewan, where she starred alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, and Kiran Kumar.
