Sanan Mohammed is poised to join Kerala Blasters FC ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season, with the highly-rated Indian winger closing in on a move to the Kochi-based club.
MyKhel understands the player is contemplating a move to his local Kerala club given his Kerala background.
The youngster had attracted significant interest from several ISL clubs following his departure from Jamshedpur FC, with East Bengal FC among the teams keen to secure his services. However, despite interest from the Kolkata giants and other clubs, Sanan is understood to have preferred a move to Kerala Blasters.
The decision appears to be driven by the player’s desire to continue his development at a club where he believes he can play an important role. Kerala Blasters have been looking to strengthen their Indian contingent ahead of the new campaign, and Sanan’s versatility and attacking ability could add another option to their wide areas.
Is Sanan’s move to KBFC confirmed?
No, it is not at the moment. Sanan has interest from KBFC and the player also wants to play for them, but the financial package will have a signifcant say in his final decision as well. East Bengal, Mumbai City and another ISL club were massively interested and still the deal can swing to other parties.
Sanan’s departure from Jamshedpur FC after the club got disbanded sparked considerable interest in the transfer market, with multiple clubs monitoring his situation. His performances for Jamshedpur had established him as one of the promising young Indian players attracting attention across the league.
East Bengal’s interest represented one of the more notable alternatives, but Sanan’s preference for Kerala Blasters has put the club in pole position for his signature.
If the move is completed, Sanan would become an important addition to Kerala Blasters’ squad as the club prepares for the 2026-27 ISL season, who have just signed one foreigner so far.
The 22-year-old recently won the FPAI young player award for his outstanding season with the Red Miners last season. Along with that, Sanan has also been called up by Khalid Jamil in the Indian senior national team for the upcoming friendlies against Panama, Brazil and Uruguay.
Among Sanan’s former JFC teammates, Nikhil Barla has joined Northeast United, while a few other players will be joining Churchill Brothers, who acquired the ISL license from Jamshedpur FC.
