Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide leaks in real life photos before launch: What to expect

Over the past few months, we have seen plenty of leaks and rumours about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. One of the most talked-about claims has been that Samsung is working on a wider version of its foldable phone.

More recently, reports suggested that the device previously referred to as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide could actually launch as the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the regular Fold model may be rebranded as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Now, Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable has allegedly appeared in public for the first time ahead of its official launch.

Well-known tipster Ice Universe has shared real-life images that show the unreleased device being used by a Samsung employee at a restaurant in South Korea. The photos were taken from a distance using 20x zoom, making it difficult to clearly identify the phone, reports Android Authority.

The device is covered by a thick protective case, which Samsung often uses while testing products before launch. These cases are designed to hide key design elements, including the cameras and overall shape of the phone. However, parts of the frame and display remain visible.

Despite the heavy disguise, the phone appears noticeably wider than Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold models. This lines up with previous leaks that suggested Samsung is preparing a foldable with a wider form factor. The images hint at a dual-camera setup on the back.

Rumours suggest that the wider Fold model could feature dual rear cameras and a 4,800mAh battery. Meanwhile, the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to offer a triple-camera setup, a larger 5,000mAh battery and faster wired charging support.

Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable phones at a Galaxy Unpacked event rumoured to take place on July 22.
