Samsung Galaxy G Fold: Tri-fold phone design leaked in One UI 8 Beta

New Delhi: Samsung might have just shown the world an unexpected glimpse of its future tri-fold phone. In a One UI 8 beta release, clever observers discovered new animations that seem to show how the Galaxy G Fold is expected to operate. Although the company has not yet said much about the gadget, this software tip is the most solid evidence we have had so far that Samsung is looking forward to joining the tri-fold party.

In comparison, unlike the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate that folds outward, Samsung seems to be an inward folding model. This coincides with previous prototypes that were shown at the Mobile World Congress where the G-shaped folding design was previewed. Assuming this is true, then Samsung may have a stronger, more durable phone when folded, as well as the screen being less exposed to wear and tear.

Leaked animations reveal design details

Android Authority reported the new animations that are associated with the NFC feature of the phone, which shows that the device has three distinct panels. The left panel seems to have a camera island, and the middle can be the cover display. The right panel appears to be bezel-less, and it could become the back of the phone when folded.

In yet another animation it is revealed that the tri-fold phone might have two differently sized hinges. The left part is folded inward, and then the right, which is the top fold. Even a warning system can be used to inform the users not to be folding the right panel first because this could break the camera module.

Expected launch and price

Recently, tipster Jukan Choi wrote on X that Samsung should start mass production of its tri-fold phones by September. The gadget will be released in the fourth quarter of 2025. It is reported that the Galaxy G Fold might sell for above $3,000, as with the one offered by Huawei, and Samsung has not yet disclosed any details of the model or its prices.

As the foldables sector gets more popular, the tri-fold initiative that Samsung is pursuing might set a new vision of the premium smartphone. It remains to be seen how much more will be revealed in the following months as the company is gearing up towards an official announcement.
