New Delhi: The second-in-command of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, has made explosive allegations before the Assembly elections in the state. He has claimed that the BJP is bringing people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh into Bengal. He alleged that the BJP, in this way, have previously captured states like Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi, and now they are trying to capture Bengal.
The controversy surrounding Form 6
Abhishek made the massive allegation after leaving the Election Commission office on Monday night. He said that the saffron camp is trying to change the borders of Bengal by using Form 6 to bring in people from other states, and claimed to have caught that ‘in the act’.
Banerjee first told on Monday how he got the news about the Form-6. He said, “I was holding a meeting in Purulia. I got to know some information. Form 6 is being submitted separately to the CEO’s office. Some people who love our Bengal and work here, they sent us.” He added, “They are stored in a box with a lid. I took a video of it and posted it on my X handle.”
The massive number of Form 6 submissions
Also, Abhishek Banerjee demanded the release of CCTV footage. He said, “According to the ECI’s rules, you cannot submit more than 50 Form 6s. We have specific information that about 30,000 Form 6s who are not voters of this state but have names in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been made voters.”
Abhishek further said, “In Noapara, 700 Form 6s have been submitted, and also in Barrackpore, in Egra, Jorasako, Chowringhee, and Shyampukur. A total of 30,000 Form 6s have been submitted. According to the rules, if 30,000 of these Form 6s have been submitted, 600 people have to come and submit them in person. We have asked the CEO to show the CCTV footage.”
The Trinamool MP also claimed, “You will see that the names of those who have been submitted are all from Bihar. Somewhere from Barrackpore, Jagaddal, Bhatpara, Naihati, 500-700 forms have been submitted. These are all voters from Bihar.”
Abhishek attacks the BJP
Banerjee also attacked the BJP’s Amit Malviya and alleged that he is forcibly inserting names of people from Bihar. He said, “Voter lists are being stolen. A state minister in Delhi has added 27 voters from Bihar. Amit Shah is trying to change the demography of Bengal. They are alleging that Mamata Banerjee has changed the demography of Bengal. In fact, they are doing this. How many Bangladeshis/Rohingyas have the commission found? Bengal has been labelled as Bangladeshi for a year.”
Abhishek said, “Yesterday, an MP of the BJP called the CEO’s office about Form 6. I have news. Amit Malviya forcibly submitted this Form 6. The same thing happened in Maharashtra. 40 lakh voters were added in five months. 5 lakh voters were added in Delhi. This is how Haryana was captured. Today I have caught them in the act. BJP says change is needed; they want this change, where there will be Ram Navami instead of Durga Puja. They will decide whether to eat fish or meat.”
