BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Congress’s Jairam Ramesh of spreading misinformation on the Russia-Pakistan defense deal. Patra called it an attempt to tarnish India’s image ahead of conferences like G20. Russia has denied any such deal.
New Delhi: Making a scathing attack on Congress, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra fiercely attacked Jairam Ramesh on Friday. He accused Jayaram of spreading misinformation to “give oxygen to Pakistan in the information war”. Patra said- Ramesh’s tweet regarding the Russia-Pakistan defense deal was part of a larger attempt to tarnish India’s image before major international summits.
Patra refuted Jairam Ramesh’s claims
Patra told- On October 4, 2025, Jairam Ramesh had posted a tweet. Through this, Congress tried to corner PM Modi and told that an agreement has been reached between Russia and Pakistan, under which Russia will supply RD-93MA engines for the JF-17 fighter planes to Pakistan, which were earlier made in China. Congress raised questions on the country’s PM, diplomacy and strategic policy…Later, the reality of the Congress Party came to light. It has lost its credibility.
Russia exposed Congress’s lies, said no such agreement was reached
The BJP leader said that Russia has clearly denied any such agreement with Pakistan. This claim has been described as “baseless and fake”. Russia has made it clear that no such agreement is taking place between Russia and Pakistan. This is baseless and fake. Before the G20 or any major summit in the country, Congress definitely does such things. It does such things which harm the image of India. Patra said, “I would like to tell Jairam Ramesh that you are not a small leader. You are the communication chief of Congress. You must have done this tweet only after getting approval from Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, after coming back, he gets such tweets posted and the entire ecosystem gets activated. You give oxygen to Pakistan in the information war.
What did Jairam Ramesh tweet about Russia-Pakistan?
Jairam Ramesh had tweeted, “Modi government should explain why Russia – once India’s most trusted strategic ally – decided to ignore New Delhi’s appeals and supply advanced RD-93MA engines to Pakistan’s China-made JF-17 fighter planes. The new Block III variant of this aircraft will have upgraded engines and the same PL-15 There will be missiles, which are believed to have been used against our country during Operation Sindoor. The Air Force chief has also said that the JF-17 could be among the Pakistani fighter planes that were used against us,” Jairam Ramesh wrote on X.
He wrote- “According to multiple news reports, the deal is going ahead despite direct intervention by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in June 2025. The government needs to explain to the country why a long-trusted partner like Russia is now providing military assistance to Pakistan, while India is still buying S-400 missile systems from Moscow and negotiating for Su-57 stealth fighters”.
