Sam Curran ‘super excited’ to be back at CSK: Feels like returning home

England all rounder Sam Curran is super excited to be back in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).

Notably, Curran was bought by CSK for INR 2.40 crore at the recently concluded mega auction for the next season after winning the bid against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

also didn’t exercise their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain him further clearing the path for CSK to sign him for the next season. As a result, the seam all rounder will once again return to Chennai after playing for Punjab for the last two seasons. Upon his return, CSK welcomed him with a special post on his X handle calling him Chutty Singam (young lion).

“Our Chutty Singam is all grown up! Orey the emotions! Super excited to be back where I’m most happy CSK. Let’s go,” wrote CSK on their X account.

Curran also replied to the post expressing his excitement on joining his old franchise.

“It feels like I’m returning home. Super excited to be back where I’m most happy CSK. Let’s go,” he added.

Curran was sold for INR 18.50 crore in 2022

Curran played for CSK in 2020 and 2021 seasons after being bought by the franchise for INR 5.5 crore. He picked 13 wickets on his debut season for Chennai from 14 matches at an average of 26.46 and also scored 186 runs. However, he failed to replicate his heroics in the next season.

Despite his low scores, he scripted history in the very next auction emerging as the then most expensive player in the history bidding event .Curran had decent seasons with Punjab in 2023 (276 runs, 10 wickets) and 2024 (270 runs, 16 wickets) but was still let go by them. Curran will now return to Chennai after three years and will play under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
