Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi ‘Not Conventional War’ Film, To Showcase Human Side Of Soldier – EXCLUSIVE

Salman Khan’s   is one of the most exciting projects of this year. The film, which was earlier titled Battle of Galwan, features Salman as a soldier.

Chitrangada Singh essays the role of his wife. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the movie is based on the Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers. While there’s time for it to release theatrically, Zoom has learnt an exclusive update about Maatrubhumi.

A source close to Salman Khan told us, “Salman has been crystal clear right from the early meetings that Maatrubhumi was never meant to be a conventional war film. For him, it’s about showcasing the human side of a soldier, the emotional duality of living two lives, one on the battlefield and one at home. That sensitivity and clarity of thought is what truly sets him apart. He isn’t just leading a film, he’s shaping its soul with purpose, ensuring that the story connects with the audiences on a deeply personal and emotional level.”

For the unversed, Maatrubhumi was initially set to release in April. However, the makers postponed its theatrical release. Buzz is that Maatrubhumi might arrive in theatres in June. That said, an official update on the film’s release is awaited. This movie marks Salman’s first collaboration with Chitrangada Singh and director Apoorva Lakhia.

Salman Khan’s work front

Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman recently teamed with producer Dil Raju’s upcoming project, which will be directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Shree Venkateswara Productions further shared more details about the project.

Taking to X, the makers wrote, “Salman Khan – A Phenomenon who has delivered countless moments of celebration to audiences across the world … Now joins hands with our very own, dearest blockbuster filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally for #SVC63.”

Salman Khan’s last release

That said, Salman was last seen in AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, the movie hit the big screen on March 30, 2025. Prior to that, Khan featured in Tiger 3 with Katrina Kaif. He also made a solid cameo appearance in Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan. He shared screen space with his Karan Arjun co-star Shah Rukh Khan in it.

Besides that, he made special appearance in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again as Chulbul Pandey from the Dabangg franchise. He even had a cameo appearance in Atlee’s Baby John with Varun Dhawan.
