Salman Khan, Karan Johar Recall ‘Major Production Hiccup’ During ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ Climax

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and filmmaker Karan Johar are set to revisit some memorable moments from their 1998 blockbuster ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, including an unexpected production mishap during the film’s climax, on the upcoming season of the celebrity chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’.

In the premiere episode of ‘Koffee With Karan Season 9’, Johar recalled how Khan came on board for the film after several leading actors reportedly turned down the supporting role.

Recounting their first meeting about the project, Johar said Khan had casually asked him to narrate the film the following day. When the filmmaker arrived at the actor’s apartment, Khan was dressed in yellow shorts and agreed to be part of the film without even listening to the entire narration.

Johar also revealed that Khan accepted the special appearance despite being told that he would not receive any remuneration for it.

The conversation also touched upon the close relationship between their families. Johar recalled how his father personally travelled to Mauritius to help secure government permissions for Khan’s then-ongoing shoot for ‘Hello Brother’.

One of the most striking revelations concerned a technical mistake during the climax of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. According to the duo, the camera operator accidentally filmed the entire sequence in slow motion, forcing the team to reshoot it.

Khan reportedly postponed his next shoot by a day so that he could remain on set and complete the reshooting, helping the production overcome the unexpected setback.

Released in 1998, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Sana Saeed alongside Salman Khan. The film follows the relationships between college friends Rahul, Anjali and Tina, with Rahul’s young daughter later attempting to reunite her father with his former best friend.

The film won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, and remains widely remembered for its music, fashion and cultural influence.
