According to the Vedic calendar, the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Magh month will start on January 06 at 08:01 am. At the same time, this Chaturthi Tithi will end on January 07 at 06:52 am. In such a situation, Sakat Chauth fast will be observed on 06 January and Bappa will be worshipped.

The fast of Sakat Chauth should be broken only after seeing the moon. Moonrise on this day will happen at 09 pm. After this, the fast of Sakat Chauth can be broken after offering Arghya to Moon God.

To perform puja and fast on the day of Sakat Chauth, one should wake up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta and take bath. After this one should wear clean clothes. Then the place of worship should be cleaned. After this, a red colored cloth should be spread on a wooden post and an idol or statue of Lord Ganesha should be placed. After this, God should apply vermilion tilak and light a ghee lamp. Then flowers, fruits and sweets should be offered to the idol of Lord Ganesha. Tilakut must be offered to God. After this Ganesh Chalisa should be recited. In the end the puja should be completed with Bappa’s Aarti and conch sound.
