New Delhi: Spiritual leader Sadhguru used the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day to urge the nation to move beyond “mere liberalization” and embrace full “liberation” of key sectors to unleash individual initiative and innovation.
In a statement on social media platform X, Sadhguru reflected on the evolving meaning of sovereignty and freedom, noting that the country faces “manifold” challenges — from fluctuating global economic conditions to deepening political isolation, and from domestic divides over faith, caste and regional identity to rising mental health issues among the youth.

“For a nation with any spine, for a leadership of gumption, challenges are never setbacks; they are fodder for growth,” he wrote, adding that “the vibrancy in the air is undeniable, and the optimism and growing self-assurance are palpable.”
Calling for a bold economic and social transformation, Sadhguru said, “The time has come not merely to liberalize, but liberate. What we now need is a burst of free enterprise – bold, confident and adventurous.” He urged the removal of “government control” over education, industry, technology and infrastructure to allow “the spirit of human ingenuity” to flourish and “shatter every glass ceiling – imposed and imaginary.
