What happens in Irumudikattu?

This coconut is a symbol of complete dedication and liberation of the devotee. Additionally, this part also includes other puja materials like camphor, silk, aval, flowers, betel leaves etc. All these are materials offered to God. Pinamudi is used for the needs of the devotee during his journey.

At the same time, in some places there is also a tradition called Nadumudi. In this, the coins given as offerings, receipts of offerings etc. are tied in a small bundle in the middle and kept at some places. This practice is prevalent in some places only.
