T20 World Cup 2026 is not far away. The IPL 2026 season will also start immediately after that. The two teams participating in these two tournaments will be very happy at this time, because one of their young batsmen has troubled the bowlers. This time this 22 year old batsman made a world record by scoring a strong century in a final. This batsman is Dewald Brewis of South Africa, who did this feat in the SA20 league. Playing for Pretoria Capitals, Brewis saved the team’s honor by scoring a stunning century in just 53 balls against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final.
Sunday evening 25 January at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town SA20 The final of the fourth season was played. In this final, Pretoria batted first but the team lost two wickets in just 7 balls. In such a situation, Dewald Brevis had to take the field in the second over itself. The effect of the pressure caused by the final match and the early fall of 2 wickets was visible on the second opener and he was batting slowly. But on the other hand, it did not show any effect on Brevis and this batsman started batting stormy as soon as he came.
Brevis’s record with a century in the final
In no time, Brewis scored his half-century in just 26 balls, due to which the Pretoria team was able to reach 100 runs in the 13th over. Wickets kept falling from the other side and its effect was visible on the team’s score. But Brewis continued his attack and then shocked the spectators sitting at the Cape Town Stadium by completing his century in just 53 balls. However, he was out in the 19th over.
In his innings, Brewis scored 101 runs in just 56 balls, in which 8 fours and 7 sixes i.e. a total of 15 boundaries were hit. This century was also special because Brewis became the youngest batsman to score a century in the final of a franchise league. Brevis set this record in just 22 years and 271 days. He broke the record of Jake Weatherald, who had made this record by scoring a century in the BBL final in 23 years and 92 days.
The rest of the batsmen of Pretoria failed miserably
However, the rest of the batsmen of Pretoria could not do anything special and its effect was visible on the team’s score. Apart from him, Bryce Parsons scored 30 runs in 30 balls, while Sharfan Rutherford scored 17 runs. The entire team could ultimately score only 158 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. For Sunrisers, Marco Janson took 3 wickets for just 10 runs in 4 overs.
