Ryan Reynolds Confirms New Deadpool Film; Teases Antihero’s MCU Future – ‘There’s Stuff Coming’

Ryan Reynolds has officially confirmed another Deadpool movie is in the works, giving Marvel fans fresh reason to celebrate. The actor said work is underway on the next chapter for Wade Wilson, but he refrained from divulging any more details on whether it will be a straight-up Deadpool 4 or some other type of Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Earlier, Reynolds had hinted that the next outing might not be in the same vein as the previous movies. The actor suggested back in early 2023 that he’d be interested in returning with his character in some other capacity, perhaps having him be a part of a bigger cast and not the main character of the story.

That has led to speculation that the new project could be more than just a traditional fourth outing in the Deadpool franchise, and that the character could be more integrated with other Marvel heroes.

At Fanatics Fest 2026, Reynolds teased that there’s a lot more to explore from the comics. “There’s a few really deep cuts I think are missing from the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts from some of the comics… There’s stuff upcoming. There eventually will be another Deadpool,” Reynolds said in a now-viral video from the event.

He didn’t give any further info about the story, but his comment is the most concrete confirmation yet that   is planning to continue the franchise after the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine.

Industry speculation has linked the next Deadpool movie to Marvel’s long-awaited X-Men integration. There have been some teases that a bunch of X-Men characters will appear with Wade Wilson to help usher Deadpool into the mutant-centric future of the MCU. However, neither Marvel Studios nor Reynolds has confirmed those reports.

As Disney continues to expand the mutant storyline, fans believe the next movie could play a significant part in bringing more X-Men into the shared universe.

Reynolds is expected to return as Wade Wilson in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios’ big crossover event opening in December 2026, before his next solo outing. While   has not spoken anything about Deadpool’s involvement in the fight against Doctor Doom, multiple reports suggest the antihero will join both returning MCU veterans and newly introduced heroes.

Robert Downey Jr is also expected to return to the franchise alongside Chris Hemsworth, the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Shang-Chi and several other Marvel characters.

Since his debut in the MCU, Deadpool has become one of the most beloved Marvel characters, with audiences praising Ryan Reynolds’ irreverent and fourth-wall-breaking approach. His recent comments suggest that Marvel has no plans to retire Wade Wilson any time soon.
