Actress Rukmini Vasanth has scored a major victory in her fight against deepfake content. Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly creating and circulating morphed bikini photos and videos of the actress on social media.
The accused have been identified as Ravikumar from Chilakamukhi village in Bagalkot district, Chandrakant from Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district, and Ranjith from Mahalakshmi Nagar in Bengaluru. Police have seized three mobile phones that were allegedly used in the crime.
The controversy erupted after edited images and videos showing Rukmini Vasanth in a bikini photoshoot near a swimming pool went viral online. Many social media users believed the content to be genuine, leading to widespread discussion and reports claiming that the actress was embracing a glamorous image.
Rukmini strongly denied the authenticity of the visuals and stated that they were AI-generated deepfakes. She revealed that the fake content had caused immense distress to her family members and vowed to take legal action against those responsible. The actress subsequently filed a complaint with the police.
Taking the matter seriously, authorities formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and launched a probe that led to the arrests.
Rukmini Vasanth was recently seen in “Kantara: Legend Chapter 1” and is currently working opposite NTR in “Dragon.”
