Ruckus over this decision of ICC amid T20 World Cup, these players want to leave India as soon as possible

T20 World Cup 2026: T20 World Cup 2026 has reached its final stage. The final match of the tournament is to be played between the teams of India and New Zealand. Meanwhile, a controversy has arisen regarding the return of the teams stuck in India. Actually, tension is at its peak in the Middle East and due to closure of airspace, the return of some teams is being delayed. Due to which South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton De Kock has openly expressed his displeasure at the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Why was Quinton De Kock angry at ICC?

Due to the bad conditions in the Middle East, flights of many teams have been affected and they have been staying in India for longer periods. West Indies were eliminated in the Super 8 on March 1 after losing to India, South Africa were eliminated on March 4 after losing to New Zealand in the semi-finals. At the same time, England was eliminated on March 6 after losing to India in the second semi-final. But ICC decided to send England home first, after which a big uproar has arisen. Quinton De Kock has raised questions on this decision of ICC.

De Kock wrote on his Instagram story, ‘The funny thing is ICC, we didn’t even know anything! At the same time, why is England leaving before us? West Indies and South Africa don’t know anything! Funny how some teams have more influence than others. Earlier, former England captain Michael Vaughan had also expressed similar concerns regarding the travel situation. He had raised the question as to how the England team was allowed to leave first despite the other teams being stuck in India for a long time. He said that all teams should be treated equally and there should be no advantage in being more powerful in ICC. West Indies head coach Darren Sammy had also earlier expressed his disappointment and said that he just wants to go home.

Teams will go by chartered flight

According to reports, ICC has arranged for a chartered flight. The England team has left for London directly from Mumbai on Saturday (7 March 2026) evening. Whereas South Africa and West Indies have to go from Kolkata to Johannesburg on Sunday, from where West Indies will proceed to Antigua. But both these teams have not yet received confirmation of the exact time.
