The incident of scuffle and abuse between saints and priests in the sanctum sanctorum of the world famous Mahakal temple of Ujjain was captured on camera. Both sides accused each other, the temple administration ordered an investigation.
Ujjain. An incident took place in the world famous Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple on Wednesday morning which surprised everyone. In the sanctum sanctorum, considered to be the center of faith and devotion, the dispute between some so-called saints and priests escalated so much that it even led to scuffles and abuses. The most surprising thing was that this entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera. Now both the parties have filed complaints against each other and the administration has started investigation.
Controversy escalated in the sanctum sanctorum, situation reached a scuffle
At around 8 am on Wednesday morning, Gadipati Mahant Mahavir Nath of Ranmukteshwar Temple and Mahant Shankar Nath of Gorakhpur were performing puja and abhishek in the sanctum sanctorum. During this time, he had a dispute with the temple priest Mahesh Sharma over some issue. Within no time the argument escalated and a scuffle broke out in the sanctum sanctorum itself. It is being told that priest Mahesh Sharma had commented about the attire of Mahant Mahavir Nath and Shankar Nath. Both the saints were engrossed in worship at that time, but when they raised objection, the matter worsened. Later, when they reached Nandi Hall, the security personnel intervened and brought the situation under control.

made serious allegations against each other
Priest Mahesh Sharma alleged that Mahant Mahavir Nath abused him in the sanctum sanctorum, pushed him and threatened to kill him. On the other hand, Mahant Mahavir Nath also retorted and said that the priest misbehaved with Mahant Shankar Nath. Both the parties have given written complaint to the temple administrator.
Mahakal temple administration strict, orders for investigation
As the matter escalated, the priests of the temple united and raised the demand to ban the entry of Mahant Mahavir Nath into the sanctum sanctorum. At the same time, Mahant Mahavir Nath along with other saints and sages demanded action against priest Mahesh Sharma. Temple administrator Pratham Kaushik has described this entire incident as serious and inappropriate. He said that such an incident at a holy place like the sanctum sanctorum is unacceptable and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
