At New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal, the Railway Protection Force rescued 56 women with a single train coach, thwarting a large conspiracy of human trafficking. All these girls were being taken to Bihar on the pretext of getting a job in Bangalore.
The police have arrested two accused, including a woman in the case. Also, the investigation of the case has been started with Bariki. According to information received from the railway, all the women are between 18 and 31 years old. She hails from different districts of Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurdwar in West Bengal.
All of them were being taken to Patna by Capital Express train by making false promises to give jobs in a fake mobile company in Bangalore. In a coach of train number 13245 Newjalpiguri-Patna Capital Express to be operated via Katihar from Newjalpiguri, when RPF personnel saw such a number of women traveling together, they were suspicious.
No girl got a ticket on asking for tickets, but everyone had a coach and seat number seal on their hands. Then the RPF questioned a woman and a young man present, but they could not give satisfactory answers.
When the question was asked that girls were to be given jobs in Bengaluru, then why were they being taken to Bihar, the answers of both the accused were different and contradictory. After this, the police arrested both of them, including the woman who was doing human traffic, and the girls were taken off the train and started investigation.
The name of the arrested youth is said to be Jitendra Kumar Paswan and the woman’s name is Chandima. Both the arrested persons did not have identity cards or documents. Due to which doubt became further confirmed. LSI Sarika Kumari later made a written complaint to the Railway Police.
In this, RPF’s SI Ajay Kumar Verma along with Sarika Kumari of RPF had a very commendable work in this entire excitement. A case of human trafficking was registered against both the accused in Railway Police Station, Newjalpiguri.
All the girls have been safely handed over to their families. RPF Commandant Sandeep Kumar said that human trafficking RPAPF is keeping a special look. For this, a separate team has been formed in the railway division.
