Filmmaker has reportedly received another alleged threat, months after firing took place outside his Mumbai home. This time, the threat is said to have come through a 90-second audio clip that was allegedly sent in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Mumbai Police have now launched an investigation after the recording was handed over by members of the director’s staff.
Audio Clip Allegedly Demands Rs 20 Crore
According to a report by The Times of India, the audio clip allegedly demands Rs 20 crore from Rohit Shetty. The message reportedly warns the filmmaker of serious consequences if the money is not paid.
As per IANS, the recording also claims that the firing outside Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence earlier this year was only a “trailer” and allegedly threatens that he would be targeted directly if the demand is ignored.
The audio clip was reportedly found by members of Rohit Shetty’s staff on Saturday morning, following which it was immediately handed over to the Mumbai Police.

Police Begin Investigation
According to officials, investigators suspect the voice in the recording could belong to wanted criminal Shubham Lonkar. However, the audio has been sent for forensic examination, and police are waiting for the report before confirming its authenticity.
A Mumbai Crime Branch official told the publication that the forensic findings will play an important role in determining the next course of the investigation.
Earlier Firing Outside Rohit Shetty’s Residence
The latest update comes months after gunshots were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence near Hasya Kalakar Mehmood Chowk in Juhu in February 2026.
Police had then said that five rounds were fired before the accused escaped on a motorcycle. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack. The alleged shooter, Deepak Sharma, was later arrested in Agra.
Charge Sheet Already Filed
In April, the Mumbai Crime Branch filed a 1,624-page charge sheet in connection with the firing case.
The charge sheet named 15 accused. Among them, Pravin Lonkar and Aarzo Bishnoi were declared absconders and are still wanted by the police.
The investigation into the latest alleged extortion threat is currently underway, with authorities awaiting the forensic report on the audio recording.
