Rohit Sharma shatters Shahid Afridi’s record for most sixes in ODIs with half-century against South Africa

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma shattered former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record for the most sixes in ODI history during the first ODI against South Africa at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30. Rohit slammed a brilliant 57-run knock against the Proteas, which was laced with three sixes as he surpassed Afridi in the elite list of batters with the most sixes in ODIs.

Heading into the first ODI against the Proteas in Ranchi, Rohit was only three big hits away from becoming the most prolific six-hitter in the format. He went past Afridi with three sixes en route to his 57 off 51 balls. The Hitman now has 352 sixes in 269 matches in his ODI career. He surpassed Afridi, who hit 351 sixes in 398 matches in his ODI career.

Rohit has managed to break the former Pakistan all-rounder’s record in 121 fewer matches.
