There are only 3 players who have scored a century and a hat-trick in IPL: Rohit Sharma, Shane Watson and Sunil Narine. Rohit is the only Indian. He took a hat-trick against MI in 2009 and later scored a century for the same team.
New Delhi: Century and hat-trick in IPL! These double blast players are worth counting. Only three in entire history. And among them only one Indian – Rohit Gurunath Sharma. Today everyone knows Rohit as the ‘Hitman’ of Mumbai Indians. But the interesting thing is that Rohit’s IPL hat-trick came against Mumbai only. This is from 2009, when Rohit used to play for Deccan Chargers.
Deccan Chargers were saving 146 runs in that match. Captain Adam Gilchrist handed the ball to Rohit in the 16th over. Then what was left! Rohit dismissed Abhishek Nair, Harbhajan Singh and JP Duminy on three consecutive balls. Not only this, he also took the wicket of Saurabh Tiwari in his next over. His bowling figures were – 4 wickets for just 6 runs in 2 overs.
The hat-trick was against Mumbai, but his first century came for Mumbai Indians only. In the year 2012, he scored unbeaten 109 runs in 60 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. After this, Rohit also scored a century against Chennai Super Kings in 2024. Apart from Rohit, there are two more players who have done wonders – Shane Watson of Australia and Sunil Narine of West Indies.
